Writing

Markdown as you type

Paragraph formats the text while you write: # and a space make a heading, - and a space a bulleted list, 1. a numbered list, [ ] a checkbox, > a quote, and three back ticks a code block. **bold**, *italic* and ~~strikethrough~~ work inside a line, and web addresses become links.

The Paragraph and Type menus

The Paragraph menu changes the paragraph under the cursor: Heading 1, 2 and 3 (Ctrl+1…3), Paragraph (Ctrl+4), the lists, Code, Blockquote, Link (Ctrl+K) and Line (Ctrl+Shift+I), and Bold, Italic, Underline and Strikethrough for the selection. The Type menu changes case, sorts lines and removes duplicates or empty lines. The buttons above the note do the same.

Checkboxes

Click a box to check it. Ctrl+Enter checks or unchecks the boxes of the selected lines.

Find and replace

Edit ▸ Find ▸ Find… (Ctrl+F) opens the find bar above the note; Find and Replace… is Ctrl+H, and F3 / Shift+F3 move to the next and previous match. The bar's menu sets case, whole words and regular expressions.

Spelling

Edit ▸ Spelling and Grammar uses the spelling checker of Windows: Show Spelling and Grammar (F7), Check Document Now and Check Spelling While Typing. Right-click a marked word for suggestions.

Undo

Edit ▸ Undo (Ctrl+Z) and Redo (Ctrl+Y): every command is one step.

A paragraph:// link opens another note. A web link opens in your browser.
